Lifetimes of the 3 p 54 s 3 P 1 , 1 P 1 and 3 p 53 d 3 P 1 levels in K II

Oscillator strengths for the three lowest ground-state transitions 3p S0-3p 4s P1, 3p 6 S0-3p 4s P1, and 3p 6 S0-3p 3d P1 in argonlike K II are reported. The values were determined by lifetime measurements made using foil excitation of a fast ion beam, which yielded values t(4s P1)58.461.6 ns, t(3d P1)52.460.4 ns, and t(4s P1)50.4360.04 ns. Application of these results to the development of extreme ultraviolet lasers is discussed. @S1050-2947~97!05304-3#
